Reviews:
didn’t buy this on Amazon but I thought I’d still share my opinion. It’s a great Cuckoo. I don’t know what’s up with the one from the video but my pendulum is complete silent (not creaky, like his).
The cuckoo chime has 3 settings; loud, quiet, and off. It goes off every hour (nothing on the half hour). The actual chime is not very intrusive at all. It consists of an echoing cuckoo with a babbling brook in the background. It was a little confusing to set the chime at first, but once I read the directions I was good. The light sensor works wells. The natural light in my house does seem to “wake” it up at 6am, though.
The case is made out of dark wood, but it does have that “manufactured” look to it (it has MADE IN CHINA stamped on the back!). I highly doubt it’s really hand-carved. The face, hands, cuckoo bird, and cuckoo doors are plastic. Even still, I like the way it looks. The weights look good and are just there for show.
Overall I like it. I’ve always wanted a cuckoo clock but have never wanted to pay the hundreds to thousands of dollars for a real German cuckoo. This suits my needs for now. I think it’s a good price for what you get. I recommend it. I give it a B+, A-.
